Services

I use a range of therapeutic approaches including Integrative, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Family Systems, Transactional Analysis (TA), Character Styles, Gestalt, Attachment, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I am trained in the suicidality assessment and treatment methods of both CAMS & Pieta House

I provide Solution Focused Therapy or more long-term Psychotherapy, depending on the client’s requirements. Crisis Intervention will focus on resourcing the client and providing short term support. More long-term Psychotherapy will explore how unresolved issues from early childhood are impacting life today.

There are times when you may feel overwhelmed and need help addressing the problems and issues that are causing you emotional distress. Counselling can be of great support in such times of crisis and change. If you are struggling with feelings of stress, anxiety, anger, depression etc., counselling will be of benefit.

Counselling will provide you with support and coping skills, and assist you to develop new self-awareness and resourcing skills. It will help you to find new ways of processing and releasing your emotions and so create feelings of emotional wellbeing as well as improved relationships with others.

I work on the basis that the client needs to be provided with a safe and supportive environment from which they can begin the journey of exploring their issues and commence the healing process. My therapeutic maps are guided by the needs of the client and I adopt an integrative person-centred approach, drawing from both my own personal experiences and training.

I feel my own personal experience is one of the greatest strengths that I bring to the work, and in fact it was my own experience of the healing that can occur from a therapeutic relationship that motivated me to become a therapist.

I am a fully insured member of a professional body, following the ethical and confidentiality guidelines as set out by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). I have a wide range of experience in both one-to-one and group work. I enjoy working with clients from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I have worked with clients ranging in age from 12 to 83, so it’s never too early or too late to develop new life enhancing skills.

“We are all in this together and there is no therapist and no person immune to the inherent tragedies of existence” (Yalom 2002).
